A celebration of 50 years of honoring those who have paved the way for women in film was on center stage this past week. Our Founder, Denetra Hampton was in the room.

History has noted well the prejudices faced by women in film. From producers to screen writers, the industry has not been kind. And being in the room with industry icons such as Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin, Eva Langoria, Danai Gurira, and America Ferrera, just to name a few, was a distinct honor for FNBN.
In the midst of being a room filled with character, reflection, gratitude, and influence, it buzzed with determination to continue the fight for equity. As part of our own media mission, we know the long lasting effects of inequities. However, the Women In Film Gala was a bright light for the future. We are fortunate to have them.
Our Founder notes that as an independent there was a lot of stillness on her part. She wanted to soak this moment in and connect with new colleagues. She said, "It was a unique experience to be able to take nursing into this room and share the stories of THE BLACK ANGELS, THE DIXIE 3 and THE FIRST FOUR. Nevertheless, I understood this was a new shift in my journey. Onward."
